Wide Angle Lens with Macro Introduction
So ive been reading about the hype of some camera lenses that has been around in the market for sometime now. As my intro says, the search and hunt for wide angle lens with macro begins here.
“isn’t wide angle lens different from macro lens?” some may ask.
They are different as wide angle lens is a panoramic lens that gives the photographers a wide angle coverage view, from left to right and up to bottom. Macro lens serves as a magnifying focus on a 1:1 ratio or otherwise.
Wide angle lens is not fisheye lens and must not be confused with that. The sequence in layman terms is as follows, according to the wideness of its view:
Fisheye lens gives us a circular or diagonal angle which is most likely to be of exaggerated perspective and the images produced are more towards distorted. Fisheye lens squeeze as much subjects within a single frame, thus causing distortion
Semi Fisheye lens is right between fisheye effect and wide angle. The distortions are not as severe as Fisheye lenses and the view coverage is wide enough to take a a beautiful perspective of your needs.
Most photographers love wide angle lens as it provides a non-exaggerated view perspective and its side-to-side distortions are minimal, especially when compared to Fisheye and semi-Fisheye lens.
Of course, there is the fixed focal length and zoom lens capability for Fisheye, Semi-Fisheye and Wide angle lens. Zooming capability allows the photographers to ply their creativity with their preferences, without the restrictiveness of a fix single focal length.
Fix focal length Fisheye, Semi-Fisheye and Wide angle lens is great in specialized shot photography and they normally have a constant aperture for faster operations (less shutter lag) and this is great performance for fast-action photography and dim light circumstances.
The creativity when using these camera lenses are boundless and solely depends on the skills, experience of the photographers.
Macro lens are great for photographers who want to take a close-up shot on any subject. It can be on an insect, surface of an orange peel, anything that the photographer wants with details.
There are macro lens that gives us life-size image reproduction (1:1) or half life-size image reproduction. Anything that is like 1.1:1 is most likely referred as life-size macro photography as well. Different macro lenses with different focal length will have different minimum focusing distance (MFD), and that’s really important as it determines the sort of macro photography to take.
A macro lens with long MFD will have a safe distance that allows the photographers to take life-size image reproduction of moving creatures like insects. A macro lens with a short MFD will not be as effective and practical.
So let’s cut the chase and what is exactly..
